Description
Chuncho cacao, grown in the Saced Valley of Peru, near Cusco and Machu Picchu, is renowned for the richness and complexity of its flavors and aromas.
It is generally distinguished by a sweet, fruity and floral pulp, accompanied by a slight bitterness.
Since 2023, researchers have identified it as a distinct genetic group and discovered ten different types of Chuncho cacao.
This genetic diversity encompasses genes from all other cocoa varieties, leading researchers to believe that it may be the “mother” of all fine cocoas.
