Lightly hued and naturaly high in cocoa butter, Nacional cacao yields a delicate dark chocolate boasting stone fruit notes with an herbal, tea-like aroma.

Since 2010, Ritual has been working with Maranon Cacao, who sources pure Nacional beans from Peru's Maranon Canyon. Believed to be extinct from disease, Dan Peason and Brian Horsely rediscovered this rare cacao in 2007, growing in a unique microclimate at some of the highest altitudes ever reported for cacao. This cacao contains a high ratio of white to purple beans, which lends a lighter color and more delicate flavor to chocolate.
