Lucid Chocolatier Maranon 72%

$18.99

Out of stock

This single origin 72% dark chocolate bar is produced from rare Fortunato No. 4 cacao sourced from the Marañón Canyon in Peru. It offers a complex profile that highlights the historical significance of this ancient genetic variety.

Craft & Origin

Johnty Tatham produces Lucid chocolate in the Coastal Wairarapa region of New Zealand from a remote farm location. He employs a rigorous bean-to-bar process using organically sourced Marañón cacao farmed by Noe Vasquez in the Cajamarca region of Peru. Sourced from the Marañón Canyon—the earliest documented site of cacao domestication—these beans undergo prolonged fermentation and drying to develop a highly refined flavor profile. The chocolate production focuses on preserving the integrity of the ancient Fortunato No. 4 varietal through precise roasting and controlled conching processes. By restricting ingredients to only cacao and cane sugar, this technical approach yields a sophisticated bar that celebrates original vision and genetic heritage through the expressive, unadulterated medium of Marañón cacao.

Flavor & Texture

Notes of Ripe blackberry, amber caramel and walnut. The texture is smooth and velvety with a structured snap.

How to Use

Enjoy this bar at room temperature to experience the full spectrum of its aromatic complexity.

Why We Like It

We value the opportunity to work with Fortunato No. 4 cacao and the technical precision Tatham brings to this ancient variety.
